Caroline's Promise is proud to be a member of the Christian Alliance for Orphans. http://www.christianalliancefororphans.org/ CAFO's Mission Statement: Motivate and unify the body of Christ to live out God's mandate to care for the orphan with the vision to have every orphan experience God's unfailing love and know Jesus as Savior. CAFO sponsors the Cry of the Orphan campaign. Contact your local Christian radio station and encourage them to contact the campaign for info on how to download PSAs that will promote adoption & orphan care in November. It's such a blessing to be a part of the Body of Christ. Together we can make a greater impact! Mark your calendars: CAFO will sponsor a conference in April 2009 called Summit. Make plans now to go with Caroline's Promise!

Our volunteers in Wilson are raising funds for Caroline's Promise! These items are so cute and would make perfect gifts for baby showers, birthdays, adoptions, Christmas - or whatever! How are you celebrating National Adoption Month? Let's share ideas and make plans now to promote adoption and orphan care in our communities. I'll get us started! Here are a few ideas: * Donate books on adoption and foster care to your school or church library. We purchased 8-10 books and put a sticker in the front of each that read "Donated in honor of the 143 million orphans worldwide." * Contact your local newspaper, tv or radio and offer to tell your adoption story. Your community needs to hear more positive adoption stories! Consider mentioning Caroline's Promise:) *If you have a blog , be sure to write about National Adoption Month. Share how being involved in orphan care, foster care or adoption have impacted your family. Several years after a local paper wrote a story on our adoption, I learned that it had inspired another family to adopt! Include links to orphan care and adoption resources - including Caroline's Promise! * Consider posti

There are so many of you doing awesome things for orphans in your community and around the world. But some of you are frustrated and feel alone. Why doesn't your church "get it"? Why are people so focused on things that don't seem to matter? Sound familiar? We've seen a real need to unite individuals, churches, agencies and ministries that are passionate about orphans. So we're starting a new group - The Triad Orphan Care & Adoption Network . Our first meeting will be Thursday November 13 at 7:00pm. It will be held at First Christian Church in Kernersville and dessert and coffee will be served. Thank you Juice N Java for providing the coffee! It's going to be a casual - inspiring night where we share our vision, passion and support of one another. Future goals will be a website where you can post your events and encourage one another. But in the scheme of things - do they really matter? I saw a new video on GAC the other day. It was by an artist that I'd never heard of - Bill Steely. I wouldn't say that the style of music was my favorite - but I was definitely impacted by the lyrics and the video. It shows a family that could be mine - except I don't brush my daughter's hair - it's too curly. He writes about how the scenes on his tv of people starving, natural disasters and homelessness no longer bother him. "It really bothers me that it doesn't bother me anymore. Okay - so I'm probably a little "behind" with this, but I thought I'd share it anyway because it's making such a difference in my home. My oldest son, Kendall came home from school today chattering about a website - http://www.freerice.com/ . We've kept our kids from the internet for the most part until recently. I was excited to see that his English teacher was giving them a way to learn and help others at the same time. The website has all sorts of quizzes: vocabulary, multiplication, different languages. Every time you get an answer correct - you gain more rice in your bowl. The rice is distributed through the UN World Food Program. Kendall was so excited that he's made a chart for the next 4 weeks. He's going to keep track of how much rice he's earned and sent to people across the world. According to the United Nations, about 25,000 people die each day from hunger or hunger-related causes, most of them children. I'm thrilled that Kendall is
