Caroline's Promise Team Arrives In Guyana!

Five of our team departed Greensboro, NC on Thursday at 7am. We had a long layover in Miami but that gave us a chance to connect with our 6th team member, Beth Ann - who lives near Dallas. It's not "easy" to get to Guayan! We finally arrived around 10:45pm but by the time we loaded the supplies and drove 45 minutes to Georgetown, it was 2am before we hit the bed!

We woke up early Friday and enjoyed our orientation with Caroline's Promise Country Coordinator, Angie Hemric. She did a great job of teaching us some culture tips and preparing us for our week of ministry. Most of the afternoon was spent purchasing items that we will give to the families of Plastic City. The highlight of the day was spending a few hours at the Ruimveldt Children's Home and Care Center. Twenty precious kids occupied our team screaming "Auntie-push me!" and "Uncle -play with me!" What fun!

We will depart early Saturday morning and head to Plastic City where we'll join members of the Vreed N Hoop Church. Our day will be spent canvassing the community so we'll have a better feel of who lives where, if the children are going to school and what the greatest needs are.

Special note: This community was named "Plastic City" about 15-20 years ago when squatters began making their home from items they found when the tide came in, like plastic bags...thus the name, "Plastic City". However, the Pastor of Vreed N Hoop renamed the area "Prosperity City" based on 3 John 2 which says, "Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers." We have decided to follow their lead and start calling this area "Prosperity City". We are excited about the hope that is being reclaimed for these people!

We appreciate your prayers and are so excited about what God will do tomorrow.

Praises:
Safe travel
No sickness
ALL of our luggage arrived on time!
Today was overcast with cooler temperatures than they have seen in weeks!
Angie - our Guyana Coordinator has done such a great job preparing fr us and sharing her passion!

Where are they now? Sthefany

Hello, my name is Sthefany.   I am 16 years old and am currently in the 4th year of high school in Biological Sciences.  First of all I want to thank the Groves Family who sponsored me during my primary school period because thanks to them I was able to complete primary school.  I am also very grateful because although I did not meet my sponsors, I appreciated them very much for the support and help they contributed in my life.   It was a great blessing that Caroline's Promise can contribute great things in the life of a person.  The experience I had was totally great. I got to know places thanks to them and they also showed me their love through letters (letters that I still have), gifts and financial aid. I would really like to meet and know how my sponsors are and meet them in person and thank them personally.   And well, I think that these kinds of experiences make you grow as a person in all aspects and how wonderful that those kinds of people exist, such as Carolina's Pro

Mission team member's "idea" + Facebook Fundraiser = Jobs in San Nicolas

Our last team to Guatemala was in November of 2019.  That seems impossible but it's true.   The primary focus of the team was a pediatric medical clinic that was hugely successful.  However, that wasn't the only seed that was planted that week in the community of San Nicolas.   Wanda King has been going to Guatemala with Caroline's Promise for years.  We can always count on her to bring hand sanitizer, goodie bags that she and her sister make for everyone, and lots of love!  One of the things I love most about Wanda is that she is willing to step in and do anything that is asked of her.  A few weeks before this trip she asked if she could bring a set of hair cutting supplies.  I didn't know if there was a need, but I knew that Wanda felt strongly that she should bring them and so I said "of course!"  Little did we know the impact that one idea would make.   Wanda spent most of that week teaching our partner, Monica how to cut hair.  We quickly realized that
