Dental Clinic at Casita Adonai

Dental Clinic at Casita Adonai , a set on Flickr. March 29 was an exciting day at Casita Adonai! Dental students from a private University gave the kids exams, flouride, and even pulled some teeth! We love it when the people of Guatemala invest in their community!

Looking for Used Dancewear for Casita Adonai

One of the dreams of our partner church and school in Guatemala City is to create a dance ministry. This church of several hundred also has a school for 125 children ages preschool - 5th grade. The school, Casita Adonai is a beautiful outreach to some of the city's most vulnerable children. The team at the church wants to use the dance ministry to teach the girls to worship God and minister to others. Our summer mission teams will train the leaders of the dance ministry and would love to take used dancewear to them. If you have girls' leotards, ballet shoes, or dance costumes that you would like to donate please contact us! email LisaHolbrook@CarolinesPromise.Net or call 336-669-7340

The Smallest Kindness Multiplied

Nine year old Kayleigh Fiedler has a big heart! So, it didn't surprise her parents when she came to them and asked permission to have a lemonade stand to raise money for those who are less fortunate. Kayleigh organized her neighborhood friends to help with the lemonade stand, and then donated all the proceeds to the PAL Club in Guyana's Plastic City. She raised $24; that may not seem like a lot to us, but to the children in the PAL program, that money will give one of the students textbooks for an entire semester. Kayleigh has shown us that every person can make a difference in the lives of orphaned and and vulnerable children. Go Kayleigh!! Not sure what PAL is? Caroline's Promise missionary, Angie Hemric has organized PAL( P artnership A chieves L earning) and is a tutoring and mentoring program in the desperately poor area of Plastic City. The children in Plastic City have adopted th e motto "We will rise higher than we are right now" and as we work toge

One Day Conference in Winston-Salem!

Together For Adoption is hosting a one-day conference in Winston-Salem. Here's a snippet of information from their website: "Our Winston-Salem regional conference is just 2 1/2 weeks away! If you wish to be renewed afresh by the good news of the Father’s delight in you, join us April 28th for our one-day conference in Winston-Salem, NC . It often seems absolutely too good to be true, but it is true: if you are a Christian, God the Father looks at you, and says, “You are my dearly loved child. I delight in you!” The story of Adoption is that Jesus lived for us and in our place as the True Son become man in order to recreate our lives and transform them into his Story. This is the Story that the Gospel tells us each day. Our adoption in Christ is able to empower us for daily Christian living and to mobilize us for orphan care." Click here for more information.

Casita Kids March 2012

Casita Kids March 2012 , a set on Flickr. A part of our child sponsorship program provides special events for the kids at Casita Adonai. Last month they were able to enjoy a special lunch and day at a pool. This is a rare treat for the kids and from the look of the pictures we're not sure if they enjoyed the pool or the food the most! Thanks to all of our sponsors who make this possible!

Help us put a roof on Casita Adonai

Casita Adonai is actually located in the older section of the church, Iglesia Adonai. They have done an amazing job of using space to meet the needs of the kids in their community. Each year they get creative in finding space for the next grade. If they don't then those kids will have to go to the public school where there may be 50+ kids in a class and they will become targets for the gangs. In January they began the new school year with fifth graders meeting in a closet that had been transformed into a classroom. In 2013 there will be no other options for classroom space. In addition, the roof of the school is in very bad shape. During the rainy season (April - September) they experience heavy rain and the school floods. Words cannot express the feelings of standing inside the school, watching the rain pour in. The dream of a new roof has now become a necessity. Our prayer is that God will provide the funding so that construction on the roof can begin in October when the

Computer Lab Update - Casita Adonai

When the teachers at Casita Adonai asked for a computer lab we got excited! Part of investing in the future of these kids is providing opportunities for them to learn skills that will open new doors for them. Obviously, computers are a necessity. Once again our teams were able to transform a closet into a learning environment. The computer lab needed more than a fresh coat of paint. Bars had to be installed on the window, a desk built, a safe purchased, a secure door installed, and internet set up. In December our Christmas Break team was able to deliver the first laptops and a printer. Some are new and some are used but they are all a blessing to Casita! We are still in need of new laptops, software, and training for the teachers. You can contribute to his project by choosing Guatemala Orphan Projects and writing Computer Lab in the comment box.

Update on Casita Library, Computer Lab, & Roof

In the past year many of you have supported our projects at Casita Adonai. Whether you were part of a short term team, made a donation, prayed, or gave a gift in honor of someone at Christmas, you all were a part of making these projects possible. We wanted to thank you and update you on how your support is blessing the children at Casita. In 2010 Caroline's Promise began the child sponsorship program at Casita. The ministry had been able to help them pay their teachers' salaries from time to time when the parents were not able to pay their tuition. It became clear that God was opening the door for us to help Casita Adonai become self sustaining and after meeting with the leaders in Guatemala it was determined that the best way to do this was through child sponsorship. Instead of "bailing" them out each month by paying teachers' salaries we could help them sustain their little school. Each year since then Casita has been able to add a grade and currently ther
