One Dollar At A Time

One of the ways God blesses us at CP is to see how He uses individuals, families and groups to creatively find new avenues to raise money for Casita Adonai. This is one such story....

Meet the Juchs Family. They have four daughters who decided they wanted to help build the school in Guatemala. So the parents bought the jumbo size boxes of candy bars at a warehouse store. They decided to donate the cost of the bars, so 100% of what was raised could go directly toward the school. Their girls went around, sharing a bit about Caroline's Promise, and offer a candy bar for $1.00, telling people it was going towards the building fund for Casita. If the people were interested in more information, they gave them a flyer about Caroline's Promise. So far, they have raised $140!
What a blessing! Every donation gets us that much closer to our goal. We are so thankful for families like the Juchs' who make it a priority to instill great values in their kids, as well as keeping a global focus on the needs of others. Thank you Juchs Family!

Update From The Interns

This is an update from our interns in Guatemala working with Casita Adonai. They wrote this the week of February 9th, as you'll see when they speak of Valentine's Day in the future.

"This week Grace and I taught "Jesus Loves Me" to all of the students in English! Also, she and I are teaching three different dramas to the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade classes. On Thursday, we are having an after school practice, teaching them facial expressions, stunts, and acting skills! Since this Friday is Valentine's Day, we are providing food, drinks, candies, and pinatas for the children at the school! We are also doing a secret Valentine's exchange among the teachers of Casita!
It is hard to believe Grace and I have already been here for a month, and we only have about a month left! We have already seen and experienced many wonderful things and can not wait to see what the next month has in store for us and the kids!

This past Sunday Grace and I went to Gerona, which is a church plant where Iglesia Adonia has been working for the past two years . We went with multiple young adults and kids from Iglesia Adonia and went to a service with the kids where we sang, danced, and played! One of the kids at Iglesia Adonia brought his toys to give to the younger kids in Gerona. It was awesome to see his giving heart, even though he doesn't have much to give, and the joy on the kids' faces when they received their presents.

Thank you for keeping us in your prayers. We appreciate it!"

From Our Interns....

Grace and I arrived in Guatemala on January 17th. While we have been here we have been teaching at Casita Adonai. Every morning we head to school at 8:30 in the morning to teach English, music, or computer classes. This past week we taught the kids colors, days of the week, numbers, and animals.
We are experiencing amazing encounters with the children on a day-to-day basis! The first week we spent a lot of time getting to know the kids and building relationships with them! The children of Casita have been very patient with Grace and I when it comes to speaking Spanish! We have also been taking Spanish classes from a young adult at the church.
This picture below is a picture of the street where the school is located. Guatemala is beautiful!

The next picture is of the fifth grade class! The students were in the middle of English class!

We are looking forward to the rest of the time we have here in Guatemala. We are also excited about the amazing things that God is going to do in and through us! We will be sharing and updating stories through this blog!

            Thank You, Rebecca and Grace.

Skip a Meal, Be a Piece of the Puzzle

We can hardly believe it!

Our goal with the HOPE GROWS CAMPAIGN has been to raise $100,000 to construct a new building for the church and school in Guatemala City.  We have had several commitments for gifts that we expect to come in by the end of February.  If they all come in we will only lack $4700!

In December we asked you to help us complete the Hope Grows puzzle by "purchasing" a puzzle piece for $25.  There are 188 pieces left in the puzzle.  When all of them are purchased the puzzle will be complete and we can begin construction!  We will write the name of each donor on the back of their puzzle piece and hang it in a double sided frame in the new school!

We need you.  Really, we do.  Most of all, the kids need you.
Here's how you can help!

1.  If you haven't already purchased a puzzle piece - do it today!
During the month of February we're encouraging you to skip one meal "out" as a family.  It's easy for the average family to spend $25 at a restaurant.  What a great way to teach your kids about "sacrificing" for others.  Have dinner at home and pray for the kids at Casita.  Then go to our website and purchase your piece of the puzzle!  Purchase your piece here.

2.  Share the need with your church, friends, and family.

3.  Pray for God to provide the finances and go before our partners in Guatemala as they obtain permits for construction and locate alternate space for classes.

Thank you for all that you do for the ministry of Caroline's Promise and the kids in Guatemala.
