The day you realize that it's working!

Days go by.  Partnership forms.  Conversations take place.  Hearts and ideas are shared.  Plans come together.  Plans Change.  And they change again.  Ministry is done. And the cycle starts all over.  Days go by.  And then one day you're scrolling through Facebook and you see a photo that takes your breath away.  And you realize that today is The day you realize that it's working! All of the praying, talking, sharing, mistakes made.  It's all working and God is changing lives and generations. This is the photo that did that for me.    It may seem like a normal photo of kids in Guatemala but there is more to the story.  Years ago we decided to start a child sponsorship program in our partner church, Iglesia Adonai.  We believed that the connection between child and sponsor would be an encouragement to the kids and that the financial support would keep the kids fed, clothed, and in school.  ...

Can you help us collect these items?

Our summer teams are working hard to prepare for awesome ministry in Guatemala. They are in need of supplies and we would love for you to help us spread the word. We are hoping to ship items by the middle of May, so if you can help buy purchasing or donating toward the purchase of supplies, please let us know. This would be a great project for a church, school, or community group. Here's what they need and how you can help: 800 bottles of children's chewable vitamins.  We cannot use gummies and we prefer quantities of around 60.  Any brand will work but here is an example of a Flinstones vitamin sold on Amazon for $5.99.   Other Medical Team Needs Chewable Acetaminophen or Chewable Motrin Skin creams with 1% clotrimazole, 1% hydrocortisone Antibiotic cream like Neomycin   (individual tubes can be found at the Dollar Store) Children's Cough and Cold Syrups Musical Instruments - Any band instruments, keyboards, guitars. Looking for used musical instruments

Rodrigo taught music at Casita Adonai last year and we quickly realized that he not only had a love of music - but a love of Jesus and kids!  This year Rodrigo has moved into the position of Assistant Director at the school and is also teaching music and computers.  We love his heart for ministry and his desire for the kids to know Jesus. In January Rodrigo shared his dream of turning one of the storage rooms on the second floor of the Building of Promise into a music studio for Casita.  Typically one of our teams would work on a project like this, but we are seeing a shift in the thinking of our partners in Guatemala .  It's the awareness that they have the skills and resources to do what God has called them to.  So we weren't surprised when we saw this photo of Rodrigo - standing in the new Casita music studio!  We are so proud of him for making this happen! The studio will not only be a place where students can learn how to play different instrumen...

Fire in Guatemalan Children's Home kills 30 + - what can we do?

By now, many of you have read about the tragedy that took place yesterday in a government run children's home just outside of Guatemala City.  Reports are conflicting but this is what we know. *  The home was able to house 400 but there were at least 700 (some say closer to 900) children living there. *  The children ranged from young children to older teens.  Some were orphans, others were runaways, some had been serving time for crimes. *  A riot broke out on Tuesday night when some of the children began to protest because of inhumane conditions - lack of food, violence, sexual abuse. *  On Wednesday morning some mattresses were set on fire and 19 girls died on the scene. *  Since then, at least 11 more have died in hospitals. So what can we do?  It's interesting to me that when tragedies like this happen we all want to "do something".  I'm the same way.  Right now, I know that we can pray.  And that's the best thing...

Books for Casita - super easy way to make a difference!

How $35 a month can literally change a life

When you sponsor a child with Caroline's Promise, you're not only investing in that child, but you're supporting their family and the community.  We currently have need for sponsors of kids in the following projects: Casita Adonai - Your sponsorship pays for part of the child's tuition while the parent pays the other portion.  Gerona Community - Your sponsorship provides food for the child and their family.
