Big News! $12,000 Matching Grant Given for 3rd floor Soccer Court Concrete!

Last week we shared a Building of Promise Construction Update We told you that our most pressing need is $20,000 to pour the concrete that will be the ceiling of the second floor and base of the soccer/sport court. This space will be used by our school and church but will also allow us to offer a soccer league to the community as a form of outreach.  We need to pour the concrete ASAP before April rains come.    We are thrilled to announce that a friend of Caroline's Promise has offered a $12,000 Matching Grant toward this project. This means that every $1 you give will be matched, becoming $2. Thank you Jesus! The soccer/sport court will be here. We can't wait to see kids and families from the community enjoying this space and finding Jesus! Do you see those trees that God planted years ago? We think it was His dream to have this rooftop play space in area where kids can't safely play outside. So he went ahead and planted those trees in advance....

Baptism Celebration!

We are so proud of our youth and young adults at our partner church, Iglesia Adonai! We have several baptism to celebrate from this past week. We have loved watching them grow in their relationship with Jesus, and we are excited to watch them continue to grow.  God is using them in many ways to reach their community and church. Carlos and Delmi thank you for your prayers and support!  Photo credits: Yessika Avila Photography

Update on Building of Promise Construction - Photos!

Thank you for giving to our Building of Promise project.  As you know, this is the third and final floor of a building that benefits the school, church, and community.  The third floor will provide 3 additional classrooms, restrooms, an area for chickens, and and area for horticulture/urban gardening projects.   In addition, there will be a sport court - soccer field on this floor.  We are beyond excited about the doors for ministry that will be opened when this project is complete. Many of you gave to our #GivingTuesday Campaign and we want you to see how your investment is being used.  Completion of the third floor involves 3 stages and the first should be complete by the end of January.  We had to dig deep on the first floor so that columns could be created that will support the weight of the soccer field on the third floor.  In these photos you can see those columns being installed on the first and second floors.  Stairs have also been insta...

7 Days of Celebration - Mourning into Dancing

This whole "7 Days of Celebration" idea came to me (Lisa) a few weeks before Erik & Samuel died in an accident.  I was so confident that God was asking me to use the last 7 days of 2017 to CELEBRATE all that He had done.  He had led me to readings on the Feast of Tabernacles, a time when the Israelites gathered to celebrate how God had provided and protected them during their 40 years in the wilderness.  It seemed like a great idea.  Share a story a day for 7 days, celebrating all that God had done in and through the ministry of Caroline's Promise.  Easy, right? And then I received the call that rocked my world.  It was a snowy, Friday afternoon in North Carolina and I was waiting to have a video conference with our partners in Guatemala.  I wasn't shocked to see Delmi's name pop up on my phone but I was shocked to hear her weeping hysterically on the other end of the line.  I'm not sure I have cried on that level before.  In the h...

7 Days of Celebration - Trauma leads to Jesus

As we continue our 7 Days of Celebration we want to share the story of our friend, *Maria*.   Extortion is a major issue in Guatemala.  It's not unheard of for gang members to go to people who own businesses and demand that they pay them or they will be killed.  Extortion was a part of every day life for Maria.  She owned a small cafe and for 10 years she gave the same extortionist $4 a day.  For 10 years.  Every day.  10 years.   One day in September Maria didn't have the $4 so the man shot her.....7 times.  It was a miracle that she survived and we were blessed to meet her in October when we visited a neighborhood Bible Study in her community.  The people that our partners had been investing in for several years had started investing in Maria.  They took her in, helped her, and loved on her.  And that night she asked Jesus into her heart.  It was a beautiful moment.  We saw her a few weeks later whe...

How $25 becomes $75 on #GivingTuesday

On #GivingTuesday (November 28, 2017) YOU can help us raise money to complete the Building of Promise by creating a personal fundraising page on Facebook.  On Tuesday, Facebook will waive the transaction fees for donations made on Facebook Fundraising Pages and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is donating $2 Million that day to charities by matching every dollar given on one of these pages.   The giving starts on Tuesday at 8am EST and will be given until the $2 Million is gone.   We think it will go quickly! And....to encourage people to give a generous donor is matching any donation made between 8 and 8:30am Tuesday, up to $2500.  How can you help? We need 50 people to set up Facebook fundraising pages prior to Tuesday morning and then promote it like crazy, encouraging people to give between 8 and 8:30am.   It's easy!  We've provided all of the instructions here and are ready to help ...

Send a Teen to Camp!

It's that time of year again!  Iglesia Adonai, our partner church in Guatemala is hosting two camps for teens in November.  The youth and leaders from Adonai are planning the camps and raising support for their trip.  They have asked us to partner with them to sponsor teens from the community of Gerona to attend. Teens ages 12-14 will attend camp November 4 and 5th and teens ages 15 - 20 will attend November 25 and 26.  The cost is $40 per teen and donations can be made here.   If you would like to sponsor a specific teen please look at the photo album here and comment underneath their photo.  Thanks for partnering with us!  We are trusting God to continue the work that He has been doing in their lives.

The day you realize that it's working!

Days go by.  Partnership forms.  Conversations take place.  Hearts and ideas are shared.  Plans come together.  Plans Change.  And they change again.  Ministry is done. And the cycle starts all over.  Days go by.  And then one day you're scrolling through Facebook and you see a photo that takes your breath away.  And you realize that today is The day you realize that it's working! All of the praying, talking, sharing, mistakes made.  It's all working and God is changing lives and generations. This is the photo that did that for me.    It may seem like a normal photo of kids in Guatemala but there is more to the story.  Years ago we decided to start a child sponsorship program in our partner church, Iglesia Adonai.  We believed that the connection between child and sponsor would be an encouragement to the kids and that the financial support would keep the kids fed, clothed, and in school.  ...

$40 can send a teen to camp

Words can't express how proud we are of the youth from Adonai Church in Guatemala City.  They have worked hard to develop a discipleship and outreach program that is amazing!  In addition, they have been raising funds to attend their high school aged camp November 25-27.  They began months ago by creating banks and teaching on the importance of saving.  From there they hosted a ton of fundraisers and have been able to raise the funds for their youth group to attend camp. Now they need our help!  They would love for 25 of the older teens from their Gerona church plant to attend camp as well.  The cost is $40 per teen and we're looking for a total of $1000. If you would like to partner with the Adonai Youth and support a teen from Gerona, please follow this link.  Thank you for helping us celebrate the Adonai Youth and their hard work, while making a way for the teens in Gerona to attend camp.

Why "Raising a Promise" is important to Kaitlyn

We are in the midst of raising the final $55,000 needed to complete the third floor of the Building of Promise in Guatemala.  When complete this floor will provide outdoor playground space, areas for horticulture and science projects, and additional classrooms, allowing us to apply to offer middle school grades. In the following video, Caroline's Promise volunteer and team leader, Kaitlyn Armstrong shares why the ministry at Adonai is so important. Please consider partnering with us.  Follow this link to give or set up a fundraising page.

Word of thanks from our youth leaders in Guatemala

In July our CP Camp team partnered with the leaders of Adonai Church to host a middle school camp for kids from 3 areas - Adonai Church, the community of Gerona, and kids from Casita Adonai School.  Many of you prayed and sponsored kids to make the event possible!  Thank you! Here are some photos as well as words of thanks from our youth leaders at Adonai Church.  Please continue to pray for them as they minister weekly. Peace and blessings from the Lord. We give thanks for each one of you who were moved to help us with our Camp for teenagers in July 2016. Our dream was to have a Camp teaching about "Living without Masks" like God calls us to live.   We are thankful for your support with all the supplies, workshops, games and prayers before and during Camp. Our heart finds joy and gratitude because we have achieved this goal, all the glory and honor to God! In this camp we had 60 teenagers from 11 to 15 years old , they enjoyed the games, workshops, making...
