Fun on Friday

One of the highlights of the week for our group was to accompany the 100 Casita students on a fieldtrip to the new Children’s Museum. The museum exhibits were both interactive and fun. Our team enjoyed spending one last day with these children. It was an experience they…and we will never forget. We praise God that our 8 additional team members safely arrived today in Guatemala City ready to continue the work we began a week ago. Team 1 was glad to have fresh insight and energy as we are winding down from such a busy yet rewarding week. Every meal we were served at Ms. Delmi’s house has been wonderful. Today, however, we had the privilege of eating an authentic Guatemalan meal for lunch. It is called Tingo and consisted of tostadas, chicken, beans, salsa, and cream. It was delicious. The week has flown by so quickly. It is hard to believe Team 1 is going home tomorrow and Team 2 is excited to begin their work being the hands and feet of Jesus to impoverished and orphaned/vulnerable ch...

What do toothbrushes, paint and a medical clinic have in common?

1 John 4:11 “ Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” On Thursday, the medical team led a dental clinic for the students of Casita Adonai. Teeth were brushed and fluoride treatments were given to every student. Students were also weighed and measured. Paint, paint, and more paint! After much hard work again on Thursday, many classrooms and school areas received a fresh coat of paint and a new look. It was truly a labor of love for those involved. The 2 nd medical clinic was also successful. 72 children received an exam from a local doctor and medication if needed. The provider did not turn away any family members when possible, even treating many of the parents. Today we are bringing all of the children from Casita to a special place that they have never been before, as they don’t take vacations. More to come later… If you would like to consider sponsoring a child through Caroline's Promise, check out this link: http://carolinespromise4u.org/orpha...

Guatemala: A Child's Perspective

Cameron (age 10): One afternoon we went to Herona and I saw a little boy. The boy was actually 14 years old though he didn’t look like it. So I went over to him and fed him. He could not talk. I spent the whole time with him. Emily (age 10): In Guatemala, I noticed that when you smile at someone, they smile back. Carley (age 12): A little girl has really grown on me. She was so happy all the time. When we started to leave she started to cry. I felt sad because she was crying…but really happy because I got to know her. Rachael (age 10): It has been really special to me to see all these kids get connected with us. One little boy started to love on us and he was just so adorable. It was heartbreaking to leave each time and say goodbye. Sarah (age 8): We met a very nice girl. The first day we saw her we had a conversation with her. She hugged us before we left for the day. Benjamin (age 11): When we were in the bus I looked outside and saw a young girl (maybe 7 years old) laying face first...

...to such as these

Mark 10:14”Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” On Sunday, the team had the privilege to present a program to 100 children at Iglesia Adonai. This church is led by Pastor Carlos Rivas and his beautiful wife, Delmi. Our theme was Princes/Princesses of the King. There was an abundance of singing, smiles and fun crafts for the kids. That afternoon, the team put on the same program for approximately 25 children at a new church plant in Herona. Many of these children are very poor and walked very far to come to this service. Some of the activities included music, a Bible story, and crafts. A nutritious meal was also provided to the children. The work of Pastor Carlos, Delmi, and their team are making a physical and eternal difference in the lives of these children and the community. Caroline’s Promise is blessed to partner in this way to help vulnerable children of Guatemala. (More pictures will be posted this afternoo...

Flexibility & Teamwork

Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Y sabemos que en todas las cosas interviene Dios para el bien de los que le aman, que han sido llamados según su designio). The first week team was excited to arrive in Guatemala City on Saturday after experiencing air travel delays and change in initial plans. With a positive attitude, we worked to get all luggage and supplies in place and settle in to our rooms. We were welcomed by Pastor Carlos and his wife Delmi at the airport. We had a wonderful meal together and our first group meeting. On Saturday we had the privilege of working at Casita Adonai. Caroline’s Promise helps support this church school and the children who attend there. This ministry is in a hazardous region of Guatemala City where these orphans/vulnerable children receive an education, a meal and the hope that is found in Jesus Christ. (You too can partner with these efforts by ...
