Where are they now? Sthefany

Hello, my name is Sthefany.   I am 16 years old and am currently in the 4th year of high school in Biological Sciences.  First of all I want to thank the Groves Family who sponsored me during my primary school period because thanks to them I was able to complete primary school.  I am also very grateful because although I did not meet my sponsors, I appreciated them very much for the support and help they contributed in my life.   It was a great blessing that Caroline's Promise can contribute great things in the life of a person.  The experience I had was totally great. I got to know places thanks to them and they also showed me their love through letters (letters that I still have), gifts and financial aid. I would really like to meet and know how my sponsors are and meet them in person and thank them personally.   And well, I think that these kinds of experiences make you grow as a person in all aspects and how wonderful that those kinds of people exist, s...

Where are they now? Jeremy

Hello my name is Jeremy.   I want to tell you about the experience I had being sponsored in my elementary school studying at the evangelical school Casita Adonai.  I started studying more or less when I was 3 years old and I received sponsorship at the age of 8.  I was in second grade when the Pinon family sponsored me.  I want to send them greetings and thanks because thanks to them and Caroline's Promise I was able to finish my schooling.   I must emphasize that every year they sent me gifts, which I appreciate even more since it was not enough for them to support me at school but they sent me gifts and that is saying a lot.  It was a blessing and a great support for my family and for myself, in addition there were many more people that I also remember with great affection.   I am currently 18 years and thanks to all those efforts is that I can say that I graduated from a bachelor's degree in computing with a scientific orientation and at this p...

Mission team member's "idea" + Facebook Fundraiser = Jobs in San Nicolas

Our last team to Guatemala was in November of 2019.  That seems impossible but it's true.   The primary focus of the team was a pediatric medical clinic that was hugely successful.  However, that wasn't the only seed that was planted that week in the community of San Nicolas.   Wanda King has been going to Guatemala with Caroline's Promise for years.  We can always count on her to bring hand sanitizer, goodie bags that she and her sister make for everyone, and lots of love!  One of the things I love most about Wanda is that she is willing to step in and do anything that is asked of her.  A few weeks before this trip she asked if she could bring a set of hair cutting supplies.  I didn't know if there was a need, but I knew that Wanda felt strongly that she should bring them and so I said "of course!"  Little did we know the impact that one idea would make.   Wanda spent most of that week teaching our partner, Monica how to cut...

Where are they now? Eleazar

Hello, let me introduce myself.  I am Eleazar and I am 13 years old.  Since I was 4 years old I started studying at Casita Adonai, since I was approximately 5 years old.  I received sponsorship from people I did not know, for me it was very emotional to receive that help, and affection with samples of gifts.  When I was in 4th grade I received a visit from Abigail Juchs.  Her family and she sponsored me for several years.  That day I was able to meet her it was very nice to share a moment with her.  I feel very grateful to her God and Lisa that through Carolina's Promise they gave me the opportunity to be sponsored, and so I could finish my primary school. I hope I get to see Abigal again one day.

Standing beside each other

Oak trees are an amazing creation. They seem almost magical in their ability to grow a mighty oak tree from a tiny cute acorn. We often focus on the beauty of the tree or its acorns- but the most intriguing part might be the unseen part, its roots. The roots of the tree bring nourishment, protect against illness and drought, they even serve as an anchor when the wind blows. Without the roots, we don’t have the tree. Oak tree roots in particular are unique. When all grown, the roots might be 4-7 times larger than the width of the tree. Even if there is devastation, like a fire, a new tree can sprout from the roots of the old tree. One of my favorite parts I never knew- when Oak trees are planted beside each other, their roots can merge tougher and even graph together to become an interconnected system. Stronger, more secure, supportive. God never uses words carelessly. He said in Isaiah 61:3 “They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display o...

2019 - The Year of Clean Water

We are thrilled for the opportunity to provide life saving water filters and hygiene training to our communities in Guatemala this summer.  We will begin this project in June with 50 families in the community of Gerona. Each water filter will last 10 years and provide an easy and effective way to purify water. Our friends at Just One Africa have been using these filters in Kenya and we are thankful for their willingness to help us with our plan.  Check out their video of how the filters work.  Each filter is $65.  If you would like to be a part of this project, donate here.  Be sure to follow us on social media to catch all of the water filter updates to come!

Your Year End Gift: Daniel's Story

On this last day of 2018 we want to share a powerful story of how your partnership has enabled us to live out one of the core values of Caroline's Promise.  Today's value is: "We value planting empowered and equipped leaders in the local community in order to become oaks of righteousness"   Isaiah 61:3 " They will be called oaks of righteousness,      a planting of the Lord (One of our favorite photos of Daniel - at a recent youth camp)      for the display of his splendor." Daniel is a beautiful example of the power of child sponsorship.  A family sponsored through Caroline's Promise Caroline's Promise partnered with the local church in Guatemala Daniel received financial, emotional, and spiritual support He grew and developed roots that are strong and deep He's now investing in and ministering to kids who were like him He shared his story with us: (Daniel with Kendall - age 6) "My name is Daniel an...

Your End of Year Gift - Hope through Water Filters

As 2018 comes to a close we want to share stories of how your partnership has helped us live out the core values   of Caroline's Promise We value Isaiah 61, which means we work to: 1. Proclaim good news to the poor and comfort the brokenhearted 2. Proclaim freedom for the captives and bring prisoners out of darkness Our next story comes from Grace Andino who shares a powerful experience she had this past summer.  "Over the past few years, we have been partnering with a community in Guatemala called Gerona. At first, many people felt closed off, not feeling like they had space in their hearts for new friends. But after a few years, it has become the highlight of each week to visit this community. For years, we were ministering to only children. Parents were never seen, especially fathers. However, little by little, some mothers began coming to church and now there is a very strong presence of women in the community attending church weekly. When ministering ...

Check out our NEW LOGO & WEBSITE!

In the Spring of 2018 our Board of Directors spent two days with our friend, Pam Morrison as she led us through Strategic Planning and Vision Casting.  We knew that we needed to change our logo and as we shared our hearts about what Caroline's Promise does and why it exists, it became clear that our foundation is the entire chapter of Isaiah 61. Things started clicking and it became obvious that a tree would be part of our new logo and our Vision Statement became,   "Where Hope Grows and Communities Thrive" We were able to develop our Mission, Vision, and Values .  We walked away, excited about all that God has for the next season of ministry!  For several years we have been blessed to receive pro bono marketing materials from SFW through their 24 hour Createathon.  This December they created our new logo and brochure and we love them!  Over the past few weeks our friend, Boni Russell ( BoniDesign) has worked overtime to design our new web...

QuinceaƱera Celebration

We have a need for LONG formal dresses for a very special reason! There is a special celebration in Latin American cultures called a Quinceanera. A Quinceanera is a coming of age celebration for girls turning 15. Many of these girls would not be able to have this kind of celebration if it was not for the amazing women at our partner church who saw a need. The women at our partner church are gathering their resources to love these girls well.  Here is where you come in! We are hoping to collect some formal dresses (i.e. prom dresses) that the girls can wear for this special celebration.  What we need: Dresses sizes 0-6 Color preferences: maroon, purple, pink, melon (2), turquoise (2), fuchsia, light blue (2) We need a total of 10 dresses and colors are not requires, just preferences.  If you can help in this way, contact Brooke St. Clair  here We need all dresses by June 1st!

Guatemala Girls' Retreat

Caroline's Promise will partner with our friends at Adonai Church to host a retreat for girls ages 12-25 in June. The cost for each girl to attend the retreat is $50, and we would love to provide this amazing opportunity to 40 girls.  This photo was taken at our last retreat which was held in 2013. The girls in the photo are now young women - all serving the Lord. 2 of the girls are doctors :) It's a beautiful reminder of how impactful these retreats can be. You can read more or donate on our Facebook page  here . If you do not want to donate on Facebook, you can donate through our website using the link  here . If you use the donation link on our website, pick the fund "Guatemala Orphan Projects" and write "girls' retreat" in the memo.  Any donation will help us reach our goal of $2,000. The fundraiser will end on June 1st.  Thanks for your support!
