Our next sponsorship story is from Grace Wheeler! During my second trip to Guatemala, I knew I wanted to find a child to sponsor through Caroline's Promise. Over the two weeks I was there, I prayed that God would reveal which child hw anted me to sponsor. One morning, I was praying for my sponsor child and asking God to make it clear which child he wanted me to sponsor. The same day we were giving out parasite medicine to all the kids at the school, which they absolutely hated.  I had been particularly drawn to one boy in the Prepa class, and we had bonded over the week. When we were giving out the medicine, I was with a friend in the Prepa class. All the kids were complaining about the parasite medicine and some were even spitting it out when we gave it to them. I gave the medicine to child I had been bonding with over the week and he reluctantly swallowed the pills. Our next sponsorship story is from Kayla Watson! My name is Kayla Watson, and I am the sponsor of the sweetest girl named Melany. Through the years of sponsoring Melany, she has blessed me in more ways than I can count. She has a smile that can light up a room. I don't speak very much Spanish, so when I visit Melany it is sometimes hard to communicate. But, that has never been a problem because we have always found other ways that work just the same as words (if not better!) My last trip I took to Guatemala in 2014, I was in church with Melany on a Sunday morning, and she grabbed my Bible. She immediately began flipping through the pages until she came across her favorite Bible verse. She underlined it in my Bible. It was an amazing way of communicating to each other without using one word. Through sponsoring a child I have truly experiences happiness. Our next sponsorship story is from Richard & Wanda Trexler! Four years ago we had the opportunity to witness one of the children we sponsor graduate sixth grade.   This is a big deal to the children.   It is their last year at Casita.   Wasn’t really sure about taking this trip.   We w anted to meet the three children we sponsor and have been praying for but wasn’t sure about being in a country where I cannot speak the language.   After talking to Lisa I decided to make the trip.   Even after four years this trip is still impacting my life.   The surprising thing was we spend $35 a month to sponsor a child, and it’s life changing for these children.   Here in the US I have trouble believing that small amount can make a big difference in a child’s life.   What I found once in Guatemala was it not only made it possible for these children to attend a Christian school but it also helped with food for the family.   ...

Our next sponsorship story is from Tripp & Buffy Poole We often get asked why do we Sponsor?  For our family, it started a little different than most. Our son Hunter was adopted in 2006 from Guatemala. When we came across Caroline's Promise nine years ago, we knew we wanted to be apart of the ministry.  But you see, being apart of a Child Sponsorship gives you a chance to form relationships with the child you are sponsoring. Being able to pray, send letters/packages, or even travel to Guatemala to visit is really special. But, what makes it extra special is walking into Casita Adonai each summer with children running up to you. They call you by name, give you big hugs, and just want to play games with you. Sponsoring a child is more than paying money. It is about the bonds you form.  Our family got to sponsor the same little boy for seven years. We will never forget the first time we met Luis. Our next story is from the Leifeste Family! My husband and I found out about an organization called Caroline's Promise, and we were able to speak to its founder about the purpose of the organization. We knew immediately that we wanted to be a part! This was God led, and Lisa Holbrook was the person that God chose to help these children in Guatemala.  We adopted a little girl names Heidy Gonzalez. I thought that my checking account would be drafted monthly and our monthly donation would help a little girl attend school and learn about Jesus. The part that shocked us was that this little girl would learn about us and come to love us as well. How humbling it is to know that our child and her family pray for us daily! We were given updated pictures showing us just how happy and fulfilled Heidy was. This in turn made us so happy! We were able to send presents and pictures of our family and always got letters thanking us for the gifts.  ...

Our next child sponsorship story is from Paul & Amy Dameron! Have you ever heard the saying that “Prayer changes things”? Well, from our experience it does. Years ago, we were impressed to do something more for God. We are members of a  small modest church and our church doesn’t really have the financial ability to do a lot. We have a handful of members. But, we just wanted to do more to be part of the “Body of Christ”. To participate with a sincere heart of helping someone or some organization. God led us to Caroline’s Promise and that’s where the change occurred.  We went on our very first International mission trip and absolutely fell in love with the people of Guatemala. These people have very little monetary things. But, they have a heart and it was visible in their eyes and their hugs.
